Shoppers at intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square enjoyed a weekend of free entertainment and activities at one of the region’s biggest summer celebrations.The Lions of Zululand were one of a number of special entertainers keeping shoppers regaled at the ‘Everyone’s Invited’ weekend which took place at both shopping centres this weekend. The dance group arrived recently in the UK from KwaZulu Natal in South Africa for their 2016 tour, and brought music and dancing to the intu Eldon Square malls with show-stopping performances.
Visitors to intu Metrocentre enjoyed all the fun of the fair with fairground rides and fairy princesses, as well as Star Wars look-a-likes 99th Garrison. A giant beach in Town Square kept youngsters entertained, along with fun & laughter from Granny Turismos and family favourites The Metrognomes.
Michelle Innes, mother of Summer Rose Innes aged 20 months said:
“I’ve just come in for a bit of shopping and then we spotted the indoor beach. It’s a lovely idea and Summer is having loads of fun!”
Taylor Harris, from Durham, visiting intu Metrocentre with his son, Austin, 7, said:
“We’ve had a really fantastic day, Austin loves all things Star Wars and he was thrilled to have his picture taken with 99th Garrison. He also loves the Metrognomes and he has really enjoyed their shows.”
Briony Grant, from Tynemouth, enjoying activities at intu Eldon Square along with mum Sophie and 6 year old daughter Ellie, added:
“There has been a fantastic atmosphere today in the shopping centre, with entertainment for everyone! Ellie’s favourite were the cuddly Teddy & Otto characters, and she absolutely adored the Lions of Zululand!”
