George’s Great British Kitchen heads to intu Eldon Square

EntranceGeorge’s Great British Kitchen is the latest tenant to sign up to intu Eldon Square’s Grey’s Quarter restaurant development in Newcastle upon Tyne.
George’s has signed a 25 year lease on a 4,200 sq ft unit on the lower level.
Having originally opened at intu Victoria, Nottingham, George’s Great British Kitchen has a heritage in fish and chips but has an extensive menu offering primarily British classic dishes with an unique twist. The Newcastle site is the next step on their current expansion trail. An all-day offer, the Newcastle site will also include an ancillary gin bar.
Kate Grant, regional director for intu said:
‘We are delighted that George’s Great British Kitchen has become the latest name to sign up to our exciting new Grey’s Quarter development. George’s provides an innovative and varied offer that our yearly 34 million customers will really enjoy.”
Opening in autumn 2016, Grey’s Quarter represents a £25 million investment from intu and their partners and features names new to the region including The Alchemist, Tapas Revolution and Smashburger.
Andrew Constantinou, owner of George’s Great British Kitchen, added:
“George’s Great British Kitchen is all about changing the way people enjoy and think of British food whist adding a unique twist to quintessentially British dishes. The positivity with which our intu Victoria restaurant in Nottingham has been received, inspired us to share it with the people of Newcastle.

We aim to create a restaurant that ‘wows’ and celebrates our country in a fun, properly British way with hints of the seaside, beach huts and candyfloss. We want our customers to talk about how much they loved it for weeks on end after their visit!

To us a kitchen is much more than just a word. It’s a place that’s all about freshly prepared food, get-togethers and good times. We took the essence of family cooking and made it fun and unique with national award winning fish and chips, succulent charcoal grills, British tapas and more! Just some of the unique items you’ll be able to enjoy are our halloumi and home smoked aubergine and tahini burger, teriyaki salmon cake & mushy pea fritter with banana chili salsa and wasabi mayo, and for dessert, our caramelised candyfloss brule or retro arctic roll and a modern day ‘Vim Tonic’.”
