Gold Medal Florist brings her blooms to Durham Market Hall

Screen Shot 2016-04-12 at 12.49.58A florist who is tipped for the top of her field has opened her first shop in Durham Market Hall.

Rebecca Hough recently launched DeVita Floral Craft, in unit 67 in Durham Market Hall.  Despite being touted as a rising star in floristry for many years, this stall is her first retail space.  From the Market Hall, she offers a range of fresh flowers and plants, and can organise arrangements of any size, from individual corsages, posies and bouquets, to wedding flowers and arrangements for events.

Rebecca’s accolades to date include being named as the Interflora Florist of the Future 2013.  The following year, together with four other young florists, Rebecca worked on the Gold Medal winning Interflora display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.  She also won 1st Place and Best in Show at Harrogate Flower Show for three consecutive years from 2012 to 2014, and in November 2015 her floral creation won 1st Place at the NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arranging Societies) National Show.

Rebecca is a qualified NAFAS demonstrator, and from May will be running regular floral craft classes in Café Cenno in Durham Market Hall.

Rebecca commented: “I’m thrilled to have opened DeVita Floral Craft in Durham Market Hall.  I’ve had a fabulous response already, and am enjoying being able to do what I love for my customers.  I’m passionate about floristry and keen to share my love and my knowledge with others.  Being in the Market Hall enables me not only to have my first retail space, but I also have a ready-made venue for classes, which I’m launching in May.”

Colin Wilkes, Managing Director of Durham Market Hall, added: “Rebecca has proven she is a remarkable florist, and we’re thrilled to have her here in Durham Market Hall.  She may be modest about what she has achieved to date, but the flowers she delivers are stunning.  We’re confident the services she provides will be hugely popular and her business will go from strength to strength.”

DeVita Floral Craft is open in Durham Market Hall from Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 4.30pm.  Follow DeVita on Facebook for more information, and for the timetable for Rebecca’s floristy classes www.facebook.com/DeVita and also on Instagram www.instagram.com/devitafloral/ .
