EXPANDING North East business CDS Recruitment has added to its number with a senior appointment, after a string of new client wins.
The seven-year-old business, based in Boldon’s Quadrus Centre, has added specialist recruitment professional Martin Flett to the team as a Technical Recruitment Consultant, after winning a number of new contracts from regional firms including Aesica Pharmaceuticals and signing its most recent preferred supplier agreement with Renewable Energy Solutions. The company is now a team of six, and has plans to further expand after seeing turnover increase by 10% per cent year-on-year.
Founding partner Chris Sultman launched the business to support expanding companies in key manufacturing and engineering industries including: oil and gas; chemical and pharmaceuticals; energy; automotive; aerospace; electronics; FMCG; food and drink and sub-contract engineering. The firm has grown steadily, and now has ambitions to take its client base across the UK.
Chris Sultman, who had worked in technical recruitment for 15 years before setting up CDS with business partner Derek Raffle, said: “We have started to see the business’ client base grow over the past year or so, and we are excited about what the future holds, particularly with a team that is increasingly diverse, but all equally ambitious. One of our successes is the fact that our core recruitment team are long serving employees and we have been able to maintain our existing client relationships as we have developed over the past seven years because of the level of support we offer.
“Confidence appears strong with businesses in the North East and in the engineering sector – in which we specialise – we have seen the growth in new start ups in our region outstrip that of London. Businesses are ready to invest in people, and create new jobs, and as a result, we are doing more for existing clients and expanding our customer base.”
He added: “Martin’s appointment is a great step forward, as he brings with him years of experience of seeking out the brightest talent in the chemical, pharmaceutical, scientific and electronic engineering sectors.”
The company, which works with local clients including the local councils via De Poel, Ford Components and Henry Williams has helped its clients fill more than 20 roles over the last year and with an expanding portfolio, plans to increase this number as it moves into its eighth trading year. The business offers various successful methods of recruitment, such as retained client support, typical contingent recruitment and non-exclusivity arrangements, meaning clients are able to work with CDS alongside other recruitment agents, to support their expansion plans.
New recruit, Martin, said: “CDS Recruitment has a proven track record in its field, and is trusted among the best businesses in manufacturing and engineering. We all work closely together to recruit which helps share the work so I could not turn down the opportunity to join the team.
“The sector in which we operate is one that is growing at an incredible pace, and with a team that specializes in this field, we are ideally placed to support them. I can only see the company getting bigger and bigger.”
