BBC antiques expert David Harper, known for his appearances on hit programmes, Bargain Hunt and Cash In The Attic, joined guests and homeowners at McCarthy and Stone’s Guisborough Retirement Living development, Beckside Gardens, for a special valuation day.
David was on hand to value everything from ceramics and glass to jewellery and paintings, and he helped guests put a cost to their most treasured possessions and finest family heirlooms. Refreshments were available for guests to enjoy, while they waited for their collectables to be examined by David’s expert eye.
One of the most memorable items from the event belonged to guest, Jackie Mitford, and was a post card written by famous cricketer W G Grace in 1914. On the back of the post card was a handwritten message cancelling an upcoming cricket match, as all of the team members had joined the forces. The interesting collectable, which captured such an important time, is now being inspected further by David.
Speaking of the event, David said: “I was delighted to be invited to McCarthy and Stone’s Beckside Garden development to host a valuation day. It was a real pleasure to meet with staff, homeowners and guests and have a look at their treasured antiques.”
Liz Green, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone North East, said: “Our valuation day at Beckside Gardens was a fantastic opportunity for homeowners and guests to get their favourite items priced up by TV personality and industry expert, David Harper, whilst experiencing the lifestyle we have on offer here for local retirees.
“At Beckside Gardens, we have created a close-knit new community, and this latest event is just one example of the events we regularly host at the development to bring homeowners and local people together.
