Beyond Housing has held a special event to recognise the achievements of its apprentices.

The graduation ceremony was held at Raithwaite Estate, Sandsend, in October and celebrated the hard work of 11 young people who have completed their apprenticeships. A further nine who have finished their Level 2 awards and will now move on to finish their training were also applauded for their commitment.

The graduation certificates were presented by Beyond Housing Chief Executive, Rosemary Du Rose, Chair of the Board, James Hayward and special guest, renowned marine engineer Sir Michael Carlisle, who shared his inspiring story with the audience – from apprentice to knight of the realm.

One apprentice, Liberty Cottle, who has completed her Level 2 qualification in Accounting, received the award for Apprentice of the Year. Liberty was praised for her determination and growth in self-confidence, which led her to address an audience of more than 300 students earlier in the year at her former secondary school.

The length of an apprenticeship varies from 12 months to four years depending on the discipline and the qualification requirements. For example, an electrical apprenticeship can take up to four years, while business administration can take up to two.

Commenting, James Hayward RD, Chair of the Board of Beyond Housing, said: “At Beyond Housing we take pride in delivering valuable apprenticeships that offer a fantastic start to a career, shaping our next generation of colleagues as well as the future of housing. Our apprentices are valued and empowered members of our team and we are committed to supporting and celebrating their success.”

Rosemary Du Rose, Chief Executive of Beyond Housing, added: “We are so proud of the amazing commitment and dedication of all our apprentices who make an invaluable contribution to our work at Beyond Housing.”

Sadie Wheeler, Housing Apprentice, commented: “After completing my apprenticeship I feel absolutely amazing.

“I’ve enjoyed the whole experience, it’s been fantastic. I’ve met some brilliant people, made new friends and now I’ve got a permanent contract at Beyond Housing. I can’t wait to continue my journey and keep learning.”
