Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Helping Hand: Unwritten creates branding campaign for Graham Wylie Foundation

Unwritten CreativeLeading branding agency Unwritten has given a helping hand to the Graham Wylie Foundation by creating the charity’s distinctive new look.

Unwritten, led by directors Lisa Eaton and Amy Jackson, came up with the concept for the Foundation’s logo and branding.

The pair invited charity founder, the Sage entrepreneur Graham Wylie, along to their design studio at Citygate House on Newcastle’s Bath Lane, to dip his hand in paint so they could capture his handprint for the charity’s artwork.

Graham’s own handprint now features in the Foundation logo, along with a Sage leaf. The lines of the leaf run into the lines of the hand to represent the helping hand of Sage.

Lisa said: “We had a fantastic day painting Graham’s hands. While it might have been fun, the finished result has an important message to give. We wanted to get across Graham’s own entrepreneurial history, as his success has driven him to launch his own Foundation, while also giving weight to the charity’s far-reaching future aims.”

The handprint is now being used on all Foundation material, along with the charity’s pledge to help, inspire and educate vulnerable or underprivileged children across the North East.

Because Graham is meeting all running, staff and administration costs, 100% of all money raised or donated will go to good causes though a grant application process.

Unwritten has also created the brand for the Run, Rock n’ Raise concert, concert in aid of the Graham Wylie Foundation, the Teenage Cancer Trust and music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.  Taking place on Sunday 11 September at the Metro Radio Arena, the concert is being headlined by the Kaiser Chiefs.

Graham Wylie said: “I’ve been lucky enough to be successful in my business and my family life and now’s the right time to give something back. We’re not only one of the region’s newest charities, but also one of the most ambitious, and the branding created by Unwritten perfectly encapsulates all of that.”

Unwritten works with clients across a range of sectors, including retail, tourism, culture, medical and hospitality. The agency has previously created branding to encourage tourists from New York to visit Newcastle for NewcastleGateshead Initiative and has worked with the Culture Bridge NE project, which aims to get more young people from the region into careers in the arts.

Tickets for the Run, Rock n’ Raise concert cost £25 (standing) and £35 (seating) plus booking fees.  They can be purchased from the Metro Radio Arena box office, www.metroradioarena.co.uk, or the hotline number 0844 493 6666.
