Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is holding the information session for prospective foster carers and adopters on Thursday 28 July at North Shore Academy’s Community Zone on Talbot Street from 6pm to 8pm.  Residents unable to attend but interested in finding out more can also get in touch for an information pack from the Council’s Child Placement Team.

Foster carers and adopters come from all walks of life and all kinds of people may have the commitment, skills and experience to offer a child a positive experience of a family life.

Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “This is a great event for anyone interested in fostering or adopting a child – whatever their circumstances or background. Some people rule themselves out before making an enquiry because they think they may not be eligible. We urge interested people to come along to the information session or have an informal chat with a member of the Council’s Child Placement Team.  If you think you have the right skills to help improve the life of a child or young person in the Stockton Borough then please get in touch.”

Those who go forward with the process of fostering or adopting a child will get professional support and guidance, comprehensive training as well as access to local support groups.
