FAMILIAR faces will be among those making their way to Stockton Borough for this year’s Stockton International Riverside Festival.
Three of the amazing acts set to bring their new shows to SIRF16 are masters at entertaining the crowds on Stockton High Street having previously performed at SIRF in 2009, 2013 and 2014.
No Fit State Circus, Motionhouse and Candoco Dance Company are firm favourites among SIRF lovers and in recent years have provided thrilling performances in the Town Centre.
This year Candoco Dance Company will perform next to Stockton’s plinth creating a powerful and emotive journey about falling in and out of love. The piece, You and I know, has been choreographed by TV personality and renowned director and dancer Arlene Phillips and features disabled and non-disabled dancers. Visitors to Stockton will be able to see the spellbinding performance on Saturday 6 August at 2.15pm and 5.15pm and at 1.30pm and 4.45pm on Sunday 7 August.
This year No Fit State Circus are joining forces with Motionhouse for their explorative performance, BLOCK. See dance and circus collide as twenty oversized blocks are deconstructed and reformed in a variety of shapes for the performers to move with, explore and dance on. The collaborative performance will take place on Church Road on Saturday 6 August at 1.30pm and 6.30pm and at 1.30pm and 7.15pm on Sunday 7 August.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “Old friends will bring new performances to this year’s SIRF. Whether you are a loyal fan or a newcomer to the festival these top-quality shows from No Fit State Circus, Motionhouse and Candoco Dance Company will entertain you, stretch your imagination and prompt you to question everyday feelings and emotions.”
