North East Connected

Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

BUSINESSES are being asked to step up and take on physical and mental challenges for a regional charity’s corporate fundraiser.

Calvert Trust Kielder’s annual ‘Kielder Quest’, which has raised more than £30,000 over the last five years, supports services for disabled people, their families and carers at the dedicated adventure and activity centre in Hexham.

Gateshead’s Primula is the latest business to sign up for the event which will see teams of six competing against each other in instructor-led challenges including Velcro Olympics, archery and climbing, to win the coveted ‘Kielder Quest Trophy’.

Beth Hendy is one of Primula’s team and said: “We’re all excited to be taking part in the Kielder Quest.  It sounds like a great event in fantastic surroundings.  Primula is owned by a charitable trust which donates profits to good causes, so it’s great that we can have fun working together as a team while supporting the good work done by Calvert Trust Kielder.

“Working together as a team to support charities and good causes means a lot to us, but we’ll also be working hard to win and take home the trophy in our first year of taking part!”

Newcastle-based financial planning firm Gale & Phillipson has generously signed up to sponsor this year’s Quest on March 16th and 17th – and will also be planning a ‘personal best’ as their team competes for first place at the event.

The manager of the Newcastle office of Gale & Phillipson Paul Bain said: “We are always keen to support local charities.

“Kielder Quest is a great event which allows teams from businesses across the North East to compete, have fun and raise valuable funds for Calvert Trust Kielder and we’re proud to be supporting them.”

Other businesses already signed up include Bellway Homes, Utilitywise, Wilmott Dixon and TLW Solicitors.

Calvert Trust Kielder’s Charlotte Gaunt is organising the event and is asking other businesses to sign up to the challenge as soon as they can.

She said: “The support of the regional business community is great news for us and the many people we help.

“A lot of the teams have done it before, they know what a great event it is and they’re coming back to have a shot at the trophy – but that’s not to say that a ‘new kid on the block’ couldn’t come and steal it, it’s up for grabs so get in touch now to sign up and start training!”

Kielder Quest takes place on 16th and 17th March 2017 at Calvert Trust Kielder. For further information on Kielder Quest call Charlotte Gaunt on 01434 250232.
