Screen Shot 2015-08-13 at 12.13.50The Pub Landlord, Al Murray, is helping to take one of the North East’s biggest events on tour for the very first time.

The popular comedian, who has fronted several TV shows and sell out tours across the UK, will be appearing at the North East Oyster Festival on Friday September 25 2015.

For the first time in its 12 years history the festival will be relocating from Hardwick Hall Hotel, County Durham to the Rugby World Cup Fanzone at Science Central, Newcastle, to coincide with the city’s hosting of the international tournament.

Al will be joined for the all-day event by legendary Motown act Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, whose hits include Heatwave, Jimmy Mack and Dancing in the Street, as well as the world’s leading bagpipe band, Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

The multi-platinum selling group, who won BBC talent show When Will I Be Famous in 2007, have appeared at a host of major events, including BBC Proms in the Park and performed for showbiz royalty such as Sir Paul McCartney and Samuel L Jackson.

This year’s Oyster Festival line-up, compered by comedian Steve Walls, will also feature performances by Celtic party bands, Dublin Raiders and the JJ Galway Band.

Guests at the event, organised annually by Ramside Estates, can enjoy a champagne reception, oyster stalls, complimentary lager, beer and wine and a three course fruit de mer dinner, prepared by the expert chefs at Ramside Event Catering.

Proceeds from the North East Oyster Festival, in association with MTREC recruitment and training, will be donated to Marie Curie, which supports people and families coping with a terminal illness.

John Adamson, Director of Ramside Estates, said: “The North East Oyster Festival is a highlight in the region’s social calendar with many guests returning year after year.

“This time we’re doing things a little differently and hope our relocation to Newcastle will allow more of the city’s businesses to enjoy all that this amazing event has to offer.”

Tickets for the North East Oyster Festival, priced at £150 +VAT, are available by calling 01740 620253.  More information can also be found at www.theoysterfestival.co.uk
