Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Learn New Skills for Life and Work in 2016

logo-landscapeTHE New Year brings new opportunities for learning a new skill, gaining a qualification or to discover a new pastime, all thanks to Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Learning and Skills service.

Places are available on a wide range of academic and creative courses that will inspire people of all ages to get involved and try something new for 2016.

Courses in English and maths are available at no charge that are delivered by experienced and knowledgeable tutors. Other courses may offer concessions depending on your circumstances.

Apprenticeships and traineeships can be a route into employment for both young people and adults. Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Learning and Skills service can help people to connect with a range of employers across the Tees Valley while supporting them to achieve qualifications at the same time.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: “The beginning of any new year is a good time to think about learning a completely new skill, gaining a qualification, finding a new pastime or just simply refreshing your knowledge.

“People looking for a route into employment could benefit from the wide range of learning opportunities on offer and some may even consider an apprenticeship.

“The courses offered by the Council’s Learning and Skills service are good value for money and those who take up a course, in whatever field they choose, will benefit from the expert knowledge of the tutors and the welcoming atmosphere in which they will learn.”

A wide range of creative courses are available from upcycling furniture to crafts and from creative writing to silversmithing – there is something for everyone of all abilities to try their hand at.
