A charity event has raised over £1300 for St. Cuthberts Hospice, a charity providing specialist palliative and end of life care to all those affected by life-limiting illnesses.
The event took place at Lifestyle Fitness Birtley in Gateshead on 8th October, with the main challenge being a Rowathon! 18 willing members jumped on the rowing machines and completed just shy of 50 miles – Birtley to Brampton!
Fundraising efforts have taken place all year for Lifestyle Fitness Birtley’s chosen charity, St. Cuthberts Hospice and this one was no different with tombola’s, gift stalls, cakes, pies and drinks all contributing to the amazing total raised.
Laurren Lynn, Membership Consultant commented “To be able to donate over £1300 to our chosen charity is incredible. The work they do is amazing, and supporting locally is so important”.
A spokesperson from St Cuthbert’s Hospice said “Absolutely fantastic! Rowing for all those hours is such a challenge but you all did great. Thank you to everyone who took a turn, everyone who encouraged the rowers and everyone who has donated. We’re so grateful.”
