The event follows the town’s success in securing the national ‘Best Love Your Local Market Event’ award last year that recognised the fantastic markets on offer in Stockton and across the Borough.
Yesterday’s market saw ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ including free fruit, cups of tea and even hugs gifted to unsuspecting members of the public by the Rediscover Stockton team, market traders and local businesses as a thank you for their support.
Free face painting was enjoyed by children visiting Stockton on their half-term holidays, helping to encourage youngsters to appreciate their local market and ensure that the market tradition carries on in future generations.
The events, taking place across the country, hope to encourage people to visit their local markets and experience first-hand the bustling and unique shopping opportunities that are on their doorstep.
Events to mark the campaign took place at the traditional markets in Thornaby, Billingham and Stockton to highlight the importance of the Borough’s markets at the heart of our local communities.
