Manhattans Coffee House & Bar, Darlington’s own niche cocktail bar and coffee shop, is to ‘mix’ entertainment with an educational experience when it hosts a cocktail making masterclass.
The cocktail evening, which takes place on April 21st from 6.30pm, includes a drinks taster and mixology workshop with participants learning how to make a variety of cocktails, including Mojitos, Margaritas, Cosmopolitans and unique New York-themed drinks.
Located on Bondgate in the town, Manhattans Coffee House & Bar was established by Darlington couple Debbi and Dave Moore, who invested £30,000 to breathe new life into the former charity shop, which had been left vacant for nine years.Three jobs were created as a result of the investment.
Debbi Moore said: “Our inaugural cocktail evening is already shaping up to be an exciting evening and the perfect opportunity for couples or working professionals to unwind towards the end of the week. We serve a variety of different cocktails as well as our own Big Apple-themed drinks, so there is something for everyone and our staff are excellent mixologists.
“It will be a great experience for those who enjoy cocktails and wish to learn about how they are created or for people who are new to them and would like to try something different. We are planning to make our cocktail evenings a regular fixture at Manhattans and I am looking forward to welcoming guests to the first of many.”
After undergoing a complete refurbishment, the venue encompasses a downstairs bar area and a separate, dedicated sports room with a 12ft screen. In addition to cocktails, it also serves draught and craft beers, as well as soft and hot drinks and light snacks.
Debbi added: “We have enjoyed great success since launching the business earlier this year and I expect this to continue, with the summer approaching and a number of sporting events taking place in the coming months.”
