The former Bridge Inn Public House, located on Bridge Street East, is to be reopened as a sophisticated new bar and cafe under the name Hit The Bar. The venue, which has been unoccupied for some years, recently received the investment from Jomast Developments.
It will be open to the public serving cocktails and drinks, as well as locally sourced snacks from Thursday to Sunday, and will cater to the visiting football crowds on match days.
Work has already started on the building, which is scheduled to open in late August. The redevelopment has also opened up a number of job opportunities in various areas of hospitality.
Dan Stanwick, who is opening the new venue with his partner Carli McNaught, spoke about the redevelopment, saying “We’re really keen to preserve the heritage and industrial background of the building, and the local town, intact.
“We’re both from Middlesbrough and very proud of that” he added.
The duo behind the new venture have over 20 years experience in catering and hospitality.
Mark Hill, Commercial Property Director at Jomast added ‘This project has been great to work on, and we’re excited to see a historic venue in Middlesbrough be brought back to life”.
The letting of the bar completes the redevelopment of Queen’s Square, which is now fully let following on from a multi-million pound investment by Jomast.
