Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

New book to train mindfulness practitioners across the globe

THE DIRECTOR of a company that delivers mindfulness training is hoping his new book will expand his business across the world.

Gary Heads, who has more than 25 years’ experience as a mindfulness coach, developed his initial programme eight years ago and, since it was commissioned by Durham County Council’s Public Health and Jobcentreplus, more than 5,000 people have benefitted from the course.

Gary, of Hamsterley, County Durham, set up the social enterprise Living Mindfully, based at Consett Business Park, in 2009. It has since developed programmes in healthcare, training, and, most recently, Mindfulness in Education, training teachers to deliver mindfulness to their pupils.

Now he has written a 12-month Mindfulness Practitioner Programme and penned a new book, Living Mindfully: Discovering Authenticity through Mindfulness Coaching.

People have already travelled from as far as Austria for the courses and with a worldwide publication Gary expects the book to act as a springboard to creating more Living Mindfully practitioners across the world.

He has already secured more than 300 pre orders for his book, which comes after the release of the successful Living Mindfully app, and is looking to take on four more staff to cope with demand for their services.

“The book is mixed with personal stories of how attending the programme has benefitted individuals and improved their lives,” said Gary. “By being able to train more mindfulness practitioners we can spread the Living Mindfully programmes across the world.”

Mindfulness, where participants are taught to live in the present moment, benefits a range of people from those living with depression or illness to enabling resilience in the workplace or classroom, to simply dealing with the challenges of daily life.
