New Graduates Take Lichfields North East Headcount To Over 40

LEADING planning and development consultancy Lichfields has added three graduates to its North East team as it delivers on a growing pipeline of work.

Planners Emma Callaghan, Alex Kennedy, and Andy Darby, have taken the headcount of the Newcastle office to 42, making it one of the largest planning consultancy offices outside London.

Emma joins from University of Glasgow where she successfully completed an MSc in City Planning and Real Estate, after earlier graduating with a first class Geography degree from the University of St Andrews.

Alex secured a first in Economics from Manchester Metropolitan University, before returning to the North East to successfully complete an MSc in Urban Planning and Development at Newcastle University.

Andy took a degree in Geography at the University of Liverpool, securing an Upper Second, and then successfully completed a Master of Civic Design; Town and Regional Planning.

Lichfields’ Senior Director Jonathan Wallace, the head of the Newcastle office, said he is pleased to see all three – originally from the North East – return home to start their careers with Lichfields.

“We are delighted to recruit three more talented young people to further strengthen our team, and support the office’s growth.

“Our three new planners will support a growing and increasingly diverse workload, which includes projects across the industrial, health and education sectors as well as work in housing and town centres, for which we are often best known.”

Recent Lichfields’ regional projects include work for Homes England, at Newburn, new hotels and apartments at the former Chronicle buildings in the Bigg Market, Newcastle, and work on a new service reservoir for Northumbrian Water on Wearside.

The office continues to provide consultancy work to some of the country’s blue-chip companies including;  Intu, Bellway, Northumbrian Water  and BP.

Lichfields is based in St Nicholas Buildings, and has had an presence in Newcastle for over 25 years; it is one of nine Lichfields’ offices across the UK.
