Tyne Grange, an Exemplar Health Care care home in Newcastle Upon Tyne, has achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Care Quality Commission (CQC), just 18 months after opening.
The care home, which is based on Grainger Park Road, received the regulator’s highest rating in the ‘Caring’ and ‘Well-led’ key lines of enquiry, and good in ‘Safe’, ‘Effective’ and ‘Responsive’, giving the home an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating. The report published on 2nd June, praised the care home for its clear evidence of supporting and treating residents with dignity and respect. Inspectors awarded the care home an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating and a full report was officially published reflecting this. The CQC report reads: “We received consistently positive feedback about the caring nature of staff and their empathetic approach. People constantly referred to the trust, kindness, understanding and sensitivity to their individual needs as reasons why they felt the service was exceptional. Several people told us, it was the ‘Best place they had lived at’.” The report also highlighted numerous examples of where staff had gone the extra mile to provide exceptionally caring and compassionate support. “[Staff] worked tirelessly with people to improve their wellbeing and quality of life. They were supported to follow their dreams and aspirations. There were several examples where staff had really gone the extra mile and supported people in different aspects of their lives.” Tyne Grange’s Commissioning Home Director, Sam Cottam said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded Outstanding by CQC at Tyne Grange. Since opening last year, the team have gone above and beyond to provide quality care for the residents, putting them at the heart at everything they do. I am inspired by the team every day and I am delighted they have received the recognition that they deserve.” During the inspection, comments from the residents and relatives included: “staff are really, really good and attentive. Tyne Grange is the best home I’ve been in,” and another said: “staff are amazing, they always listen to me and support me.” Tyne Grange supports adults living with complex mental health needs and neuro-disabilities including those who’ve had a brain injury Exemplar Health Care has over 35 specialist care homes across England. The care provider is planning to open a number of new homes over the next few years, including in Sunderland and Stockton-on-Tees. |
