THE UK’s first self-serve compensation app airFair is celebrating winning £1M in flight delay compensation in its first year.

Developed in the North East at airFair’s Generator Studios base, the app has had almost 4,000 app downloads since launching in October 2016, and paired with increased traffic to airfair.com, more consumers are taking steps to claim back money that is rightfully theirs.

As the likelihood of flight delays is on the rise, and airlines are rejecting a higher number of direct claims due to large volumes, airFair has seen its claims from delayed passengers soar to 20,000.

Will Smith, head of airFair, said: “We are the only UK-based company in our industry offering consumers a self-serving app which we see as the ultimate travel companion in today’s modern world of busy airports and flight delays.

“We are there to help immediately when passengers find themselves in the unfortunate circumstances of a flight delay. It’s a huge milestone to have surpassed £1M in compensation, yet there are still so many people out there not claiming what’s rightfully theirs when they are delayed.

“We are nearing the launch of version two of the app before the end of the year which will have some exciting enhancements.”

The airFair App is free to download from the App Store on iOS and Android. Consumers can also submit a flight delay claim via www.airfair.com.
