Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

North East manufacturer to showcase furniture at prestigious London design festival

Clerkenwell Design WeekGodfrey Syrett is partnering with the prestigious Clerkenwell Design Week in London to exhibit furniture manufactured in the North East.

The office furniture and workspace specialist, which designs and manufactures the majority of its furniture from its two manufacturing sites in Killingworth and Durham, will be a showroom partner at the event which is taking place from 24th to 26th May.

Clerkenwell is widely considered one of the most important design hubs in the world, which claims to be home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet.

The design week, which is in its seventh year, was established to celebrate this rich and diverse community, and create a showcase of leading UK and international brands and companies presented in a series of showroom events, exhibitions and special installations that take place across the area.

David Hall, sales director at Godfrey Syrett, who will be attending the event said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our North East talent and gain recognition at what is a very highly regarded event in the design world.  As the workplace has evolved the business has become more focussed on design and we have recently launched our biggest design project to date, a reconfigurable workspace solution called Zip.”

“We also recently won the exclusive rights in the UK to manufacture and sell an award-winning soft seating range called Mr Jones, which we will be taking to Clerkenwell with us.  This is the first time we have partnered up with the event and we are very excited to be exhibiting some of our designer products at this vibrant festival.”

Clerkenwell Design Week has firmly established itself as the UK’s leading independent design festival and annually attracts the international design community to this small area of London for three days of exciting events. In 2015, the design community flocked to Clerkenwell with 35,414 attendees and over 300 exhibiting brands.

Godfrey Syrett is the North East’s largest furniture manufacturer employing over 230 staff.  Established in 1947, the business designs, makes and delivers contract furniture to the education, public and commercial sectors.  The firm has a head office and manufacturing base in Killingworth, in addition to a distribution and logistics hub and another manufacturing site, both in Durham.  It has its own dedicated fleet of delivery vehicles and delivers throughout the UK.
