Owen Pugh Secure Major Housing Contract with Gentoo

Screen Shot 2016-03-22 at 16.27.11A North East civil engineering firm has secured a £1.1million contract to undertake infrastructure work on a housing scheme in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Owen Pugh GDC has secured a civil engineering contract to install roads and sewers and complete plot works at the site of 37 affordable new homes in Cypress Avenue, Fenham, working on behalf of Gentoo Homes.

The works, which will take around 12 months to complete and will involve an average of 10 Owen Pugh operatives, also involves hardscaping work including paving and road surfacing.  This is the first time that Owen Pugh has delivered civil engineering services on behalf of Gentoo and negotiations are currently underway about future opportunities.

The Calderstone development is situated in Fenham, just 2.5 miles west of Newcastle City Centre.  It comprises of a mixture of two, three and four bedroom properties aimed at first time buyers and the affordable family market with prices starting from just £155,950.

The scope of work delivered by Owen Pugh GDC includes: drainage; environmental; flood alleviation; coastal and river works; urban regeneration; groundworks; reinforced concrete structures; hard and soft landscaping; geotechnical engineering; tunnel and shaft works, carried out on behalf of local authorities and water utilities firms.

The Owen Pugh Group has five trading companies operating in the civil engineering industry, undertaking earthmoving and demolition, drainage and groundworks, plant-hire and haulage, quarrying, inert waste and drain cleaning, and CCTV surveys.The group is headquartered in Dudley near Cramlington, with other bases in Blaydon, Middlesbrough and Bassington Lane in Cramlington, as well as Marsden Quarry and employs over 400 people across its business.
