Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Raise A Glass To Fine Dining

Food lovers from across the North East are being invited to raise a toast to fine dining, with a special event being held next week.

On Friday May 6, the experienced chefs at 1879 Events Management will be hosting a Champagne Gourmet Evening at the Stadium of Light.

The sparkling event, designed to showcase the subtle differences in variations of the world famous bubbly, will feature five different Champagnes, each served with a dish specifically chosen to complement its flavours.

This includes canapes served with Bollinger Special Cuvee, a starter of peppered venison carpaccio and Veuve Delaroy Rose and an intermediate course of salmon and squid ink tortellini with Perrier Jouet Grand Brut.

For main course guests can enjoy a lamb cannon with spinach and basil mousse, accompanied by Laurent Perrier Brut Rose and followed by a suitably decadent vanilla panna cotta with Lanson White Label Sec.

The evening will end with a selection of British and continental cheeses with accompaniments, coffee and petit fours.

David Moses, General Manager at 1879 Events Management, said:  “Much has been said about how certain wines complement different dishes but it is much lesser known how well food can work with Champagne.

“This event is designed to help remedy that and our chefs have worked very hard to ensure the ingredients and flavour of the food work exceptionally well with each specific tipple.”

Tickets for the Champagne Gourmet Evening at the Stadium of Light are priced at £54.50 per person.  Anyone wanting to make more of their evening can also include an overnight stay at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn, Sunderland.
