Residents in Guisborough are being asked for their local knowledge and experience of flooding, as well as their views on a potential future flood alleviation scheme.

The Environment Agency is investigating how to improve the protection to properties in the town from flooding from Chapel Beck.

Representatives from the Environment Agency will be available to speak to the community during a drop-in which takes place on Thursday 29 June at Sunnyfield House Community Centre, 36 Westgate, TS14 6BA.

Residents can drop-in any time between 1.30pm and 6.30pm.

Environment Agency Project Manager Ted Thomas said: “We’re carrying out some early investigations into how to improve the protection to properties in Guisborough from flooding from Chapel Beck.

“We want to give residents the opportunity to tell us about their previous experience of flooding in the town, so that we can fully understand any flood risk.

“We’re also keen to hear people’s thoughts on potential flood defence improvements in the area. I’d urge residents to come along so we can gather as much information as possible.”
