Screen Shot 2015-10-22 at 13.11.45FOOTBALL fans will be getting the chance to compete in a tournament as some of their favourite players, thanks to one of Newcastle’s most popular bars.

To celebrate the release of the game FIFA 16, Osbornes, Osborne Road, Jesmond, is hosting fortnightly knock out tournaments, with the next competition taking place on Monday, October 26.

The FIFA 16 tournaments will see two competitors play a 15 minute, head-to-head match for the chance to move on to the next round.

The top three players, which are announced on the night, will be awarded prizes such as crates of beer and a bar tab at Osbornes.

“FIFA is an incredibly popular game so it’s great to be able to offer our customers the chance to take part in this tournament,” said Atul Malhotra, director of Newcastle-based Malhotra Group plc, which owns Osbornes.

“The competition will run once every fortnight and there are some top prizes on offer, which we will be changing every two weeks, so there’s no reason that our winners can take part more than once.”

FIFA 16, which is an association football simulation game available on multiple platforms, was released at the end of September and is the first edition of the game to include female footballers from 12 of national teams.

The competition at Osbornes, which will use the Playstation 4 version of FIFA 16, is free to enter. The next tournament (Oct 26) will kick off at 7.30pm.

Osbornes is open seven days a week, from 10am until 11pm, and offers a full food menu. For more information please contact the bar on 0191 240 7778 or visit www.osbornejesmond.co.uk.
