Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Tursdale-small

Work has started on a project to protect the environment in and around a County Durham hamlet.

Northumbrian Water is investing £1.2m in upgrading 280 metres of sewer at Metal Bridge, near Tursdale, between Coxhoe and Thinford.

The work is taking place in fields parallel to Thinford Road and Bridge Street, to the north of the highway, running to mid-June.

Near the end of the work, three-way traffic lights will be required near the Old Mill pub for between four and six weeks, to install the element of the sewer that will cross the beck. Access to the pub will be maintained throughout the work.

The work is being delivered by Northumbrian Water’s partner, Esh-Stantec.

Northumbrian Water’s Project Manager, Rowena Usher said: “This important sewer upgrade work will help to protect the local environment from the risk of pollution. We have designed the project to minimise the impact upon road users, by working within the field for the majority of the time, and reducing the need for traffic lights.

“We’d like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while we carry out this investment.”
