Simon Bailes Peugeot has announced it is supporting Romanby Golf Club Juniors for the 15thyear running – its longest community commitment.
Romanby Golf Club works closely with the local community to encourage more young people to become involved in the game. It organises coaching courses for all ages as well as running taster sessions for local groups including schools, scouts and girl guides.
Head PGA Professional Simon Appleton said: “The initiative that has been launched with the support of the funding has facilitated one hour sessions on a Saturday for the Romanby Junior section, with the aim being to have six sessions before the end of the year.
“This will run through to early next year, with some further sessions, including on course game management, to ready our Juniors for the season ahead, so that the club can once again involve some of the Juniors in representing the clubs 1st team in Harrogate Union matches and also the Bainbridge Shield.”
Simon Appleton is also doing coaching sessions on Sundays for non Romanby Junior Members with a view to enhancing their skills and attracting them to become members at Romanby in the future where they will continue to develop and learn and hopefully progress to also represent the club in matches and beyond.
Simon Bailes is passionate about supporting the development of young people especially when it comes to their sporting interests and hobbies.
Simon Bailes said: “Sport provides a brilliant opportunity for young people to develop key skills such as discipline, and mental and physical agility as well as keeping fit.
“It’s very important to the business that we support young people in our community, especially initiatives that encourage them to be active and outdoors, which is why we have decided to continue our long-standing support of Romanby Golf Club Juniors.
“We are proud that our relationship with Romanby Golf Club Juniors, which is our longest community commitment, has helped players and coaches achieve success and we want to continue supporting future generations.”
Romanby Golf Club captain Rob McBride said: “We are extremely grateful to Simon Bailes Peugeot for the on-going support and investment into the future of grass roots sport; which has seen members of the junior academy attain a scholarship in the USA and selection for Yorkshire elite at the junior level, as well as the junior team topping their section within the Harrogate 2017 league”.
