Star pupils shine as achievement is recognised

STAR pupils celebrated a year of success at a special ceremony to recognise academic, sensory and physical achievement.

Students at Beaumont Hill Primary Academy, part of The Education Village Academy Trust, Darlington, were rewarded for their hard work at the school’s annual Record of Achievement event.

The specialist academy, which supports children with a range of abilities from profound and multiple learning difficulties to severe and complex needs, welcomed hundreds of parents, carers, family and friends to an afternoon celebration, organised by head teacher Tess Wright, supported by teaching assistant Sue Hartson, to watch the children receive their certificates and awards.

Pastoral lead for Beaumont Hill Primary Kirsty Coates said: “Our annual Record of Achievement Celebration is a wonderful way to acknowledge all of the hard work that the children have put in over the past year.

“It is really important that our students see their efforts recognised and also that parents and carers get to see the progress that their children are making.”

The school also bid a fond farewell to Year 6 pupils, who will be making the transition to Beaumont Hill Secondary School in September, with a rendition of the Anna Kendrick Cups ‘When I’m Gone’ song.

Guests were entertained by The Beaumont Hill Academy choir with a performance of ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman musical.

Head of Beaumont Hill Primary Tess Wright said: “Our amazing pupils have worked so hard this year and really deserve this recognition.

“I’m honoured to lead such an amazing team of staff and would also like to thank parents and carers for their support and allowing us to share in their children’s life – it really is a privilege to work here at Beaumont Hill.

“Finally I’d like to thank our Year 6 pupils and wish them all the best for their move to secondary school in September.”

Parent Michelle Jones, whose son Aiden, 11, will be leaving the school at the end of term added: “It was an absolutely fabulous celebration.

“Aiden has been practising really hard to learn all of the songs for today.

“He’s really enjoyed his time at Beaumont Hill Primary; he loved the teaching staff, all his lessons and his friends and is really excited to be moving up to the secondary school after the summer holidays.”
