Children from Gala Theatre Stage School (GTSS) have been taking part in final rehearsals for their latest production.

Young people aged between three and 12 years old will take to the stage on Friday in Animaniacs, a musical show featuring songs from classic children’s films including The Lion King, Frozen and Mary Poppins.

The stars of tomorrow, who have previously taken part in shows including The Wizard of Oz and Seussical the Musical, are now spending their half-term getting prepared for Friday’s two performances.

Kate Sorahan, who manages GTSS, said: “The juniors have been working hard in the lead-up to the show and we are now all looking forward to the performances at the end of the week.

“The show is a perfect opportunity for the younger students to showcase their talents in our wonderful theatre before the seniors and Ensemble star in the musical RENT later in the summer.”

The stage school, which teaches children from the age of three to 21 was set up in 2002 and now performs to sell-out audiences on an annual basis.

From Saturday, 29 July to Saturday, 5 August, GTSS will present the rock musical Rent, telling the story of young artists struggling to survive in New York City’s East Village in the days of Bohemian excess.

Animaniacs takes place at Gala Theatre on Friday, 2 June at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10 or £8 for concessions and can be bought by visiting Gala’s website, calling the box office on 03000 266 600 or visiting the box office in person.
