A unique series of immersive yoga classes is set to launch in Newcastle this summer, offering participants the chance to practice mindfulness and movement surrounded by the extraordinary world of Vincent van Gogh.
Taking place inside Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, at Utilita Arena Newcastle upon Tyne, the special sessions will be held at 9:00am on Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 July, with additional dates to be announced due to expected demand.
Each 50-minute class will be led by a qualified instructor and is designed to be accessible for all abilities, from beginners to experienced practitioners. The sessions will focus on gentle movement, breathwork and relaxation, encouraging participants to fully engage with their surroundings.
Set within a 10,000 sq ft digital gallery, Beyond Van Gogh brings more than 300 of the artist’s most celebrated works to life using cutting-edge projection technology and a specially curated musical soundtrack. During the yoga sessions, guests will be immersed in iconic paintings including The Starry Night, Sunflowers and Café Terrace at Night, as the artworks flow and transform across walls and floors.
The experience offers a rare opportunity to combine wellness with culture, creating a calming and visually stunning environment that enhances both physical and mental wellbeing.
Following each session, participants are invited to explore the full exhibition at their leisure, including a specially designed reflection space featuring a striking Sunflower Alley inspired by Van Gogh’s work.
Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience runs at Utilita Arena Newcastle from Sunday 12 July to Sunday 9 August 2026, transforming one of the region’s leading entertainment venues into a spectacular multi-sensory art experience.
Caroline James, General Manager, Utilita Arena Newcastle, added:
“This event and the yoga sessions enable us to utilise the arena space in an innovative way, broadening our programming and attracting new audiences to the venue and the city.”
With an anticipated attendance of tens of thousands over the 29-day run, the event is expected to contribute to local tourism, hospitality, and retail sectors, supporting wider economic activity across Newcastle and the surrounding region.
Places for the yoga sessions priced at £41 are strictly limited and early booking is strongly recommended.
