Still Time to be part of Carnival Costume Making

Screen Shot 2015-06-24 at 10.42.32FAMILIES wishing to take part in one of the biggest community carnivals have a final chance to get creative at a costume making workshop this weekend.

Two workshops will take place on Saturday (18 July) at Spark, Bishopton Road West, Stockton TS19 0QH. There will be a choice of two sessions, one from 10am to 12pmand a second one from 2pm to 4pm. Booking is required.

Stockton’s annual Community Carnival will take place on Saturday 1 August during Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF).

This year the Carnival theme is Instant Light, inspired by the story of the same name commissioned from Sara Maitland. People taking part in the free workshops will be asked to make costumes which reflect the magical tale of how Stockton became a festival town ready for the Carnival on 1 August.

Families taking part in the workshops will be working with a professional artist to construct their costumes and bring the Instant Light story to life.

The workshops are for all parents/guardians and their children.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

To reserve a place on either workshop please contact Lyndsey Stephenson on 01642 527696 or email lyndsey.stephenson@stockton.gov.uk
