THE Mayor of Stockton is promising to make the Christmas wish of a secret Stockton embroiderer come true.
Earlier this week a beautiful embroidery was found hanging on the door of Stockton Town Hall asking whether Stockton will “get a proper tree this Christmas?”
The answer is “yes” but alongside the tree there will be an abundance of extra special festive surprises and decorations to enjoy too.
And the Mayor is eager to find out who the mystery craftsperson is so she can tell them all about this year’s festive decorations and lights.
Councillor Barbara Inman, said: “It’s a wonderful embroidery. Somebody has clearly gone to a lot of trouble to make it and I’m happy to tell them their wish will be granted as we have some spectacular festive plans.
“Anyone who visits Stockton this Christmas season is in for an extra special experience. Not only will our traditional tree return but there will be lots of other surprises too.
“Last Christmas Stockton Town Centre was a building site but now its physical regeneration is almost finished. The design of the newly transformed high street will mean that the town centre can accommodate special lighting and effects so we will have some stunning festive decorations this year as a thank you to all the residents, visitors, shoppers and businesses who have been so patient whilst the works have been carried out.
“I’m hoping the person who left me this well-made gift, as well as people living and working across Stockton Borough, will come to the launch of Stockton Sparkles where they will see first-hand this year’s extra special lights, tree and decorations.”
The launch of Stockton Sparkles will take place between 5.30pm and 7pm on Thursday 27 November.
The embroiderer is being urged to get in touch with the Mayor by calling 01642 527064 so that she can arrange to meet them and tell them all about this year’s festive plans.
