Award-winning housebuilder, Story Homes, has chosen Cancer Research UK as its charity partner for the financial year 2017/18, with an ambitious fundraising target of £10,000.
Each year, employees vote for a charity to support, with Story Homes then dedicating its colleague and company fundraising to this cause. Last year, the developer raised more than £6,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance and the North West Air Ambulance.
Fundraising efforts from the housebuilder’s office and site-based employees in Cumbria, south Scotland, the North West and North East have so far included golf and football tournaments, charity zip wires, prize draws and cake sales, with many more plans underway.
In addition, Story Homes donates £50 to Cancer Research UK for every National House Building Council (NHBC) survey that its customers complete when they move into their new home, with the donation being made regardless of the feedback received from the customer.
Since October 2016, Story Homes has raised more than £13,000 for Cancer Research UK as a result of the donations made for each customer survey.
Steve Errington, Chief Executive of Story Homes, said: “We are proud of the support we have provided to a variety of charities throughout our 30-year history, with our colleagues really getting behind each cause and being creative in their fundraising plans.
“We are pleased to be partnering with Cancer Research UK, which undertakes such vital research into the causes and treatments of cancer and touches many of our colleagues personally. Having already raised £13,000 thanks to our customers who have returned NHBC surveys, we are looking forward to continuing to support Cancer Research UK throughout the year and significantly increasing that fundraising total.”
Natasha Patel, Local Fundraising Manager at Cancer Research UK, said: “We are extremely grateful and happy that Story Homes has chosen Cancer Research UK to be its charity partner. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to make this happen. All funds raised will go towards the charity’s research to beat over 200 types of cancer, helping to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
“Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for its ground-breaking research. Therefore, funds raised through supporters like Story Homes and its customers are crucial to the work of doctors, nurses and scientists who work day and night to fight cancer on all fronts.”
