EVERYTHING will stop for tea next month when a favourite Newcastle venue holds a special pre-Christmas event.
On Saturday 14 December, Three Mile, at Great North Road, Gosforth, is serving a festive afternoon tea between 12 noon and 3pm.
And along with the chance to sample a selection of sandwiches, savouries and sweet pastries, guests will be able to listen to live music from singer and guitarist David Stoker and enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival.
Traditional roast turkey, cranberry and brandy chutney leads the finger sandwich menu, along with roast beef and horseradish, smoked salmon with dill cream cheese and cucumber and egg mayonnaise with cress.
The savoury selection consists of cheddar and chive scones with piccalilli, Stornoway black pudding rolls with apple sauce and goats cheese tartlets with honey roast fig.
And, for those with a sweet tooth, there are cherry scones with clotted cream and cherry jam, chocolate brownie bon bons, warm spiced fruit mince pies and Christmas pudding cupcakes.
Chefs at the venue – owned by leading North East hospitality operator Malhotra Group plc – have created a gluten free version of the traditional menu, while non-meat or dairy eaters can opt for a carefully created vegan menu.
Its finger sandwiches are chestnut falafel with cranberry and brandy chutney, red pepper, rocket and olive tapenade, Vio-Life cheese with tomato and mustard and roasted garlic hummus and spinach.
The savoury selection comprises Vio-Life scones with piccalilli, chilli bean ‘sausage’ rolls with apple sauce and beetroot and fig tartlets.
While the sweet treats are cherry scones with jam, chocolate bon bons, warm spiced mince pies and carrot and date cake.
And a pot of tea is included with every booking.
The festive afternoon tea costs £32.50 per person and pre-booking is essential. To book, or for further information, visit https://threemile.co.uk/christmas/
