John Newlands has joined the board of TOC Property Backed Lending Trust plc, the Newcastle-headquartered investment trust.
A well-known and highly-respected expert in the investment trust industry, Mr Newlands previously spent a decade as the Head of Investment Companies for Brewin Dolphin.
He also holds a non-executive position at the CQS New City High Yield Fund and is a member of the Citywire Investment Companies Performance Awards Panel.
Tier One Capital Ltd is the investment advisers to the trust, which has the objective to provide its shareholders with a consistent and stable 8%-9% annual return over the medium to long term, while managing downside risk through a diversified portfolio of fixed rate loans, predominately secured over land and/or property in the UK.
As well as his work within finance, John Newlands is a published writer, having written three books about financial history and numerous articles for national and financial media.
Mr Newlands said: “I met Tier One Capital’s senior management team some time ago and was immediately struck by the firm’s high standards and close attention to detail, so I jumped at the opportunity to join the board of the investment trust.”
