THE NORTH EAST’S most celebrated restaurant is set to mark its tenth anniversary in style, with a series of special events.
The two Michelin star The Raby Hunt at Summerhouse near Darlington first opened its doors in 2009 and since then it has gained an international reputation, thanks to the cooking skills of chef/owner James Close.
And now the self-taught chef will be marking the landmark event with a whole host of culinary experiences which will showcase his skills.
For the first time the restaurant will be open for a classic Sunday lunch on two dates – 26 May and 11 August – when guests will be able to enjoy a five course meal prepared by James.
The highlight of the celebrations will be held on Sunday 7 July, when the restaurant joins forces with Champagne Deutz, one of the leading French champagne houses.
James has created a special, five-course meal based around French classic dishes, with each course complemented by a different glass of champagne.
“It’s been an incredible 10 years and we wanted to mark it in a number of different ways,” said James.
Places for Sunday lunch are available at £90 per person while the champagne evening costs £330 per person.

The anniversary celebrations also include a special Chef’s Table experience on 28 July when James will be joined by sous chef Maria Guseva with dishes inspired by the pair’s travelling adventures.
The exclusive event was sold out within hours of being announced.
