Trying to lose weight? Surprising Methods You May Not Have Heard of

ByDave Stopher

Jun 6, 2020

Huge numbers of the population struggle with their weight and it’s no surprise. Consumer culture has led us down on a slippery path of temptation when it comes to fatty foods and oversized drinks. Everywhere we turn, there is something else luring us in to dine on delicious flavors, at this point we might as well call it the forbidden fruit. This is why it’s so difficult to maintain any kind of weight loss program we embark upon, and the temptation is real. However, there are some other ways you can try before completely giving up, so let us take a look at some surprising methods of losing weight you may not have heard of.

Eat Breakfast

One thing that’s often left out of diet tips is the fact that you need to get your metabolism going when you wake up and what better way to do that than to eat breakfast? Don’t fill yourself with cereal as they are all full of sugar and empty calories, but instead start your day with a bowl of porridge or a few different fruits. Either way, it’s the most important meal of the day, so why shouldn’t we listen?

Drink Coffee

Let’s be sensible when we talk about having a cup of coffee. This doesn’t mean a Latte or a Cappuccino and most certainly not anything that involves a syrup or whipped cream. In the morning, if you have a cup of pure black coffee, then it will help kickstart your metabolism through a process called thermogenesis. The process involves the body turning energy into heat. Not only that, but it can help suppress your appetite and will give you a load of energy if you feel like going on a trip to the gym. As a bonus, it can also help prevent diabetes.

Suppress Your Appetite

Losing weight is a science and it is one that everyone can learn very easily. It comes down to a basic equation. Calories in Vs Calories out, that’s it, that’s all you have to remember. If the number of calories you burn for the day is higher than the number you have eaten then you are going to lose weight. If you eat more than you burn then you will put weight on.

If our appetite isn’t roaring then the need to eat isn’t going to be pressing so in theory, our calories in for the day will be lower. Some useful real-world reviews at https://nutritiondietnews.com/best-appetite-suppressant/ will help you make an informed decision as to which supplement you might choose. Feeling fuller for longer will help you keep those empty calories at bay.

Load the Veg

Vegetables have a pretty low-calorie count, so when you are serving up your dinner, don’t be afraid of loading your plate up and stacking it high. You can eat until your full when it comes to vegetables and you won’t be putting on any excess weight. Be sensible when it comes to the starchy kind of vegetable, the humble potato might be classed as a veg but will have the opposite effect if you eat too much.

Exercise on an Empty Stomach

This is a craze that is relatively new to the scene, but it most certainly has its place. It is called fasted cardio and the theory behind it is that your body, when exercising, will feed on any stored carbohydrate and fat instead of the food you have eaten recently. This leads to higher levels of fat loss. If you think about it, it makes a lot of sense, and is most definitely something you can easily start!

Keep a Food Diary

Have you ever been to the gym and see people writing things down in their little notebooks? That’s their gym diary. These incredibly motivated people write every single thing down in their gym diary and their food diary, and it’s the reason they look like they do. I’m not saying you have to go full throttle into that world, but it’s good to keep a note of everything you eat. This way you can keep an eye on your calorie intake and see where you can improve on your diet.

Losing weight isn’t easy, but it’s achievable for everyone, given that they have the right mindset. Granted, that’s difficult to get into, but once you’re there, you’ll find it much easier. The addition of endorphins released from exercise will catapult you into feeling like a new person and losing weight will easier than ever.
