ARMY veteran Alan Conlin and other residents at a Stockton-on-Tees care home welcomed serving soldiers on Armistice Day.
Alan, 81, welcomed the visitors and shared stories of his past career in the army, proudly displaying the medals he was awarded during his travels around the world.
Lance Corporal Knox, Fusilier Poole and Private Ross, from the North East Army Recruitment Group, based at Catterick Garrison, visited the home following a memorial service at Stockton cenotaph.
Sue Abdi, manager of The Beeches Care Home, on Green Lane, said: “We were very proud to welcome the soldiers to the home, as heroes who have served in Afghanistan.
“Our residents were thrilled to meet them, especially John, as they talked about current day army life and shared their experiences.
“Visits such as this have a profound effect on our residents and we hope they will come back soon.”
