Following a successful week at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show in February, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is returning to the NEC in Birmingham next month (stand 10.22), ready to show the right-hand drive Grand California range to visitors at the UK’s biggest leisure vehicle show. This year’s Motorhome and Caravan Show, held at the NEC from 15-20 October, will see the public debuts of the Grand California 600 and 680 models, alongside the current California Ocean T6.

Retaining many of the strengths of the original Transporter-based California, the Crafter-based Grand California’s appeal is extended by the addition of extra space, and a wetroom with toilet, shower, a fold-out wash basin, shelves, cupboards and a skylight for ventilation. Two different versions will be available: the ‘680’ and the ‘600’, which not only has a double bed at the rear but also an overcab bed for children.

An electrically powered step, which moves out in front of the sliding door, makes getting in and out easier, while a two-part mosquito net in the door is likewise part of the standard specification along with a camping table and chairs which can be neatly stowed in the rear wing doors. Also available are options such as an additional roof-mounted air conditioning unit at the back, an awning, satellite dish for TV reception and a rear bicycle rack.

In addition, the Grand California comes with the Crafter’s driver assistance and infotainment systems. These include standard Front Assist with City Emergency Braking function along with rear parking sensors, plus the option to add Lane Assist to help the driver stay in lane, Blind Spot Monitor for changing lane, Rear Traffic Alert for reversing out of parking spaces and Park Assist for steering into them, the sensor-controlled side protection system, Adaptive Cruise Control and a Rear View reversing camera.

Commenting on the brand’s return to the NEC, Head of Marketing, Sarah Cox, said: ‘We had a tremendous reaction from visitors to the Show in February and since then over 4,500 people have signed up via our website to receive more information on the Grand California. With the arrival of right-hand versions and order books opening at the end of this month, we’re looking forward to meeting people ready to put their name down and start their Grand adventures!’

The Motorhome and Caravan Show offers a unique opportunity to see the largest display of campervans, motorhomes, caravans, , trailer tents, caravan holiday homes and lodges and accessories all under one roof. As well as seeing new products, visitors can expect to come away with great ideas, inspiration, and advice on where to go and what to do on their next adventure.
