An actress who has performed to sell-out audiences across both sides of the Atlantic is coming to Gala as part of her first solo tour next week.
Rachel Tucker, who played the role of Elphaba in Wicked in the West End and on Broadway, will perform a wide range of songs including hits from musicals as well as some more modern pop.
“I’ve never played in Durham before, even touring with other shows, so I’m very intrigued by the city and excited to be playing at Gala,” she said.
“I’ve played in Newcastle and Sunderland on tours with the musicals The Full Monty, Tommy and Tonight’s The Night. I’ve loved it every time, I love the cities and people up north.”
Performing alone is something new for Belfast-born Rachel, but a challenge she is relishing so far.
“I’m finding it completely different from anything I’ve done before. No two shows are ever the same in any venue, and I get such a kick from feeding off each audience and responding to them in such different ways.
“My brilliant band can shift and change as and when I need and require them to, which keeps the show real and fresh.”
Rachel Tucker will perform at Gala on Monday, 29 May at 7:30pm. Tickets for the show cost from £17 and can be bought by visiting www.galadurham.co.uk, calling the box office on 03000 266 600 or from the box office in person.
