SESSIONS to help people understand their benefit entitlements are being hosted at Middlesbrough College this week.
The ‘It’s Your Right to Claim’ event runs at the College on Dock Street until Wednesday (March 4).
A pilot of the scheme run last year resulted in an estimated £93,200 in unclaimed benefits being identified for Middlesbrough residents.
Cllr Tracy Harvey, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive lead for welfare reform, said: “A huge amount of money is going unclaimed, all too often because people simply don’t realise they are entitled to it.
“This money can make all the difference to those most in need, and this campaign is all about removing any stigma attached to accessing welfare.
“I’d urge anyone who is not clear on what they’re entitled to claim to come along and talk to one of our advisors.”
