A new pub, named after the proprietor’s premature son, has been officially opened by Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP at Forget Me Not Country Park, near Morpeth, which has also received £1.4 million of investment.

The Prince William Bar and Grill is named after William Maguire, the latest addition to five generations of William Maguires who was born last year, 17 weeks premature. The four living generations of the William Maguire dynasty were present to celebrate the launch, at which Mrs Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-Upon-Tweed, officially declared the facility open.

Billy Maguire of Prince William Bar and Grill, said: “We’re really pleased with the new bar and we’re sure our customers will be too! We decided to dedicate it to my son, who was born very early last year and who joins a long-line of William Maguires. We’ve created a number of new employment opportunities at the bar we’re still recruiting.”

On the former site of Croft Family Bar, Prince William Bar and Grill is part of Forget Me Not Country Park, Longhorsley. The new establishment includes a soft-play area, pool table and a locally-sourced menu, offered daily from 12noon to 9pm. 14 new jobs have been created.

The opening of the bar and grill coincides with the completion of £1.4 million of investment in the Forget Me Not Country Park, near Longhorsley outside Morpeth. The park offers a range of holiday homes, as well as facilities for touring caravans and campervans, with views over Simonside and the Cheviot Hills.

Billy continued: “We’re delighted with the progress we’ve made with the holiday park too, since we took it over in September 2013. Maguires Country Parks are all 5 star quality and we’re committed to providing the same standard of service in the beautiful Northumberland countryside.”

Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-Upon-Tweed, said: “It was my pleasure to open the park today and to celebrate investment in tourist and leisure facilities in the heart of beautiful Northumberland.”
