TYNESIDE restaurants will be taking the pressure off mums across the region next month with a special Mother’s Day offer.

On Sunday 26 March, The Runhead in Ryton, The Sandpiper in Cullercoats and Scalini’s in Jesmond and Gosforth  – all part of The Malhotra Group PLC – are offering a selection of Mother’s Day deals of one, two and three courses.

At The Runhead, diners can choose from four starters including tomato and roasted pepper soup and smoked salmon and cream cheese parcels with salad, followed by a traditional Sunday roast with a choice of three meats.

There are four different desserts to choose from, with prices starting at £9.95 for one course, £11.95 for two and £13.95 for three.

For mums who like a bit of a retro treat, The Sandpiper is going back to the 70s with starter choices including soup, potato skins and prawn cocktail, followed by the choice of a carvery, Pan Haggerty or fish and chips.

Desserts include Baileys cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding, with prices ranging from £9.95 to £14.95.

A taste of Italy is on the menu at both Scalini’s restaurants. In Jesmond, starters include tomato and bocconcini salad with basil pesto and deep fried crispy whitebait with garlic and herb mayo.

Main courses include slow-cooked beef brisket in Guinness served with roast potatoes, vegetables and a rich pan gravy, roast turkey breast or prawn and scallop ravioli with white wine sauce. A mixed meat roast is also available for a £3 supplement.

Desserts include warmed chocolate fondant, Limoncello cheesecake and caramel Panna Cotta.

At Gosforth, diners can pick from five starters including potato skins, home-made minestrone soup and smoked mackerel salad, followed by a choice of Northumbrian beef, slow-cooked pork shoulder, roast turkey or lemon and rosemary lamb shoulder with seasonal vegetables.

There will be a choice of four desserts including tiramisu, Limoncello cheesecake, meringue and lemon sorbet, pear and almond tart and chocolate fudge cake.

Prices at both Scalini’s restaurants are £10.95 for one course, £14.45 for two and £16.95 for three.
