Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Local housebuilder leaves green footprint across the North East

Local five star housebuilder Barratt Development North East has been leaving green footprints across North East this year through its environmentally conscious attitude towards homebuilding practices. The division, which has The Drive at Mount Oswald development in Durham, built 704 new homes during 2017, 59% of which were built on previously developed land, preserving more green areas in the region and protecting wildlife.

A further conscious effort was also made to support the local environment, with 60,590 trees and shrubs planted or retained on developments and 88% of construction waste being recycled.

Neil Milburn, Development Director at Barratt Developments North East, said: “As a five star housebuilder, sustainable building is at the forefront of everything we do. We are very aware of the effect our work can have on the local environment and community, and work extremely hard to continue to develop more environmentally friendly processes. We work hard to create developments with materials and practices that promote environmentally-friendly results that take care of the communities we build in.”

“During 2017 alone, 2,700 jobs were supported directly and indirectly through out work, with 470 sub-contractor companies supported and a further 330 supplier companies supported.”
