Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Story Homes has plans approved for 70 new homes in Throckley

Plans by housing developer Story Homes to build 70 new homes in Throckley have been approved by Newcastle City Council.

The development, which has been named Dovecote Place, will feature a range of two, three and four bedroom family homes across a range of eight house types. The scheme will also include the creation of landscaped areas for the benefit of both local people and new residents. Construction is due to start on the site this spring.

As well as creating job opportunities for people and businesses in the area – including in the supply chain and sub-contractors, the development will offer 16 per cent of the homes as affordable properties.

Nicola Rosul, Land Manager at Story Homes in the North East, said: “We are pleased that Newcastle Council has recognised the quality of our proposal for this development and granted Reserved Matters approval for these new homes, which will make a positive contribution to the district’s housing supply.”

“Dovecote Place is a fantastic location with excellent local amenities and transport links into Newcastle.  We look forward to bringing our award-winning, high quality homes to families in the area.”

Story Homes submitted the planning application in early 2016 following consultation will local residents and stakeholders who had the opportunity to make suggestions and comment on the proposals.

Dovecote Place will be the ninth development by Story Homes in the North East. The housebuilder has rapidly expanded into the region since 2013, selling more than 300 homes across its live developments and creating more than 50 jobs.
