Lianne Bell Cake Design has been crowned best dressed shop window in Thirsk! Lianne took first place in the annual competition.
Following the success of Thirsk in the Great British High Street competition this year, making it to the top 5 shortlist for Best Small Town in the UK, the Thirsk and District Business Association has been staging its annual competition for best dressed Christmas window.
Leader of Hambleton District Council, Councillor Mark Robson, joined Emma Smailes from the Federation of Small Businesses who judges the windows and Jill Miller, from the Business Association, to congratulate shop owner, Lianne Bell.
Jill Miller for the Business Association said “Thirsk continues to strive to find new ways to enhance the visitor experience in the town to provide residents the best offering and create a destination that leaves a positive, lasting memory for our visitors”.
“In 2016 collaboration between different organisations within Thirsk has been the key to the success of the town in the last year with events such as the Tour de Yorkshire day, the promotion of Thirsk at Kings Cross Station and the Yarnbombers. It has brought the town closer together, revitalising the town centre with local residents and spreading the message that local is best. We are working with our market towns to help them build on their success” said Councillor Robson.
And Emma added: “once again I was blown away by the windows in Thirsk, it gets harder every year. From Knitting Santa’s to optical Christmas Trees and Fern Ball Gowns – brilliant! The winner Lianne Bell Cake Design stole my heart. The use of traditional colours and the clever pyramid design drew the eye into the window. Its content, all handmade, was unbelievable, butter cream bears and royal iced Christmas cakes, but also it gave you products that you could buy to do with your family, giving you the ability to make precious memories at this busy time of year”.
Runners up included Love Thy Interiors and Eufloria. Commended were Row Opticians and Crafts of Thirsk. The Best Charity Shop was Cancer Research UK
