Three new comedy shows announced at Tyne Theatre & Opera House

Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 15.50.14Tyne Theatre & Opera House’s status as the go-to venue for comedy shows in Newcastle upon Tyne is further cemented with the addition of another three fantastic shows to their stellar comedy line-up for 2016/17.

On Thursday 10th November, the relentlessly smiley Rob Beckett performs at Tyne Theatre & Opera House for the first time, bringing his ‘Mouth of the South’ show to the stage. Star of BBC1’s Live At The Apollo, Would I Lie To You?, Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Cats Does Countdown, BBC2’s Mock The Week, ITV’s Play To The Whistle, and ITV2’s Celebrity Juice, Beckett will take on the big issues like Kit Kats and flatbread.

On Friday 11th November, Tyne Theatre & Opera House will welcome master of controversy Jerry Sadowitz to the stage to shock and entertain in equal measure with ‘Comedian, Magician, Psychopath!’ Strictly for over 18’s, Sadowitz is heralded as one of the biggest cult figures to emerge from the 80s alternative comedy scene with his unique, uncompromising combination of comedy, hatred and card tricks. Highly offensive to some, hilarious genius to others – don’t miss the fearless and accomplished Jerry Sadowitz live.

Looking ahead to 2017, on Monday 6th February, Miles Jupp pays us a visit as part of his ‘Songs of Freedom’ tour. The Stand-up, actor, writer, thinker, father, husband, worrier, fool, star of Rev. and The Thick of It and host of  The News Quiz hits the road in a freshly-ironed shirt and some robust trousers and tries to make some sense of it all: from astronauts and regrets to social media and hipsters.

These three new announcements come just 16 months since Tyne Theatre & Opera House was given a new lease of life when a new company, Tyne Theatre & Opera House Ltd was set up to operate and manage the building. In just 16 months the theatre has continued to attract some of the biggest names in comedy including Dylan Moran, Katherine Ryan and Frankie Boyle, with more incredible shows being booked all the time.

The next comedian to the take to the stage is local funnyman Gavin Webster on May 13th, with Sarah Millican also kicking off her first round of shows out of ten this May, with all May dates now sold out!
