Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

Screen Shot 2015-12-14 at 10.34.07STUDENTS have been making the community their business in an initiative to improve the environment.

Darlington College students on the BTEC Business course spent the afternoon sprucing up the play equipment in the town’s South Park.

The college was approached for help by Groundwork NE & Cumbria, a member of the River Tees Rediscovered Landscape Partnership. Supported by the National Lottery, through the Heritage Lottery Fund, with a contribution of £1,889,500, the initiative also includes Darlington Borough Council.

Groundwork NE & Cumbria delivery officer Lucy Chapman contacted Darlington College and asked whether students might like to help.

Darlington College L1 and 2 business programme leader Charlotte Morrison said: “We encourage our students to become involved with community initiatives and they were eager to help by painting the equipment and planting spring bulbs.

“The college always likes to help with community projects and it is something that they can use in their studies as we look at how to market volunteering.”
