Hopping Across The North East From Hub To Hub

ONE GREAT DAY FOR FUNDRAISING

SUNDERLAND shoppers will be invited to dig deep while shopping this month to help raise money for two hospital units.

The Bridges shopping centre has signed up to take part in One Great Day, a fundraising initiative which will raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and Children’s Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

On Saturday, 29 June, the Bridges central square will house fairground attractions including hook a duck, a ping pong cup toss and a coconut shy.

There will be a dress-up zone for children and shoppers will also be able to spin of the Wheel of Fortune, to win a prize – such as sweets, chocolate and may even gift cards – for everyone.

The One Great Day initiative aims to encourage families and communities from across the UK to come together at their local shopping centre to get involved in a day of fun challenges.

Monies raised is split between Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and a local children’s charity, with the Bridges choosing CHUF, which raises money for medical equipment and provides holistic care to children with heart conditions.

“We are hoping that shoppers at the centre will come and support this wonderful cause, which benefits children both here in Sunderland and on a national level,” said Andy Bradley, centre director at the Bridges.

“We hope visitors will get involved and help support two charities which work tirelessly for children.”

The One Great Day activities at the Bridges will take place between 11am and 4pm at central square and more information can be found at www.thebridges-shopping.com.
