All eyes will be on Durham’s great outdoors following broadcaster Ben Fogle’s visit to the county yesterday to film an action-packed video.
The adventurer and traveller stepped out to film an adrenaline-fuelled episode of his online series Ben Fogle’s Great British Adventure.
Visit County Durham, which played host to the popular TV personality, has commissioned the episode in a bid to showcase the county’s amazing outdoor attractions and activities to a world-wide audience.
Never one to shy away from active pursuits, the video will see Ben take part in a range of activities county-wide including waterfall jumping at Low Force under the expert guidance of the Kingsway
Adventure Centre, participating in a mountain bike challenge at Hamsterley Forest, striding out at the Durham Heritage Coast and experiencing some of the water sports that will be on offer at the Seaham Harbour Marina, Water Sports &Activity Centre, which is due to open late 2016.
Footage from the episode will also showcase the stunning scenery of the Durham Dales and North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as one of England’s most spectacular waterfalls – High Force. It will also include unique drone footage capturing fantastic aerial viewpoints of Durham’s breathtaking vistas.
Broadcaster Ben said: “I’m hugely looking forward to showcasing Durham’s great outdoors. It’s a county of contrasts, with everything from beautiful countryside and coastline to historic vale and vibrant city. This video will help to raise the profile of Durham’s outdoor activities – and hopefully inspire even more people to visit and see for themselves.”
Michelle Gorman, managing director of Visit County Durham, said: “We’re thrilled that Ben took time out to visit Durham. He will help to raise the profile of our amazing county and, in particular, its spectacular natural scenery, bringing it to a world-wide audience.”
The Durham episode of Ben Fogle’s Great British Adventure will be hosted on the website britainisgreat.com from September.
